1 - Overview

One platform, many modules

Users tend to want everything and anything they can get their hands on (as do a large number of people in general). They also wish they can do everything on their own, as they please, and in any way they want.

Meet VizPlatform – the platform that gets you closer to being able to do whatever you want, when you want.

2 - Problem

Where was that again? Ah it was in another window…

Users need to have multiple applications, websites, and platforms up and running to complete their tasks and go through the typical workday. This results in frustration when trying to find the right thing, endless switching of windows, and an overall chaotic experience.

What if you could combine a few?

3 - Design Process

The big picture was clear, but many decisions had to be made

As this was the initial launch of the revamp, we needed to collect some information from our users and get insight into what they truly needed to streamline their daily work experience.

What tasks are you doing on a daily basis?

What do you wish to see implemented in a single system?

How many systems, applications, or platforms do you use to complete general tasks?

Here are some things what we found out:

Referencing, creating, and/or modifying documents were daily tasks for majority of users

Almost all users use a ticket/case management system to track tasks and/or support tickets

Many users wish to be able to update website info and have better communication with their clients

Majority of users stated that they would like to schedule and view meetings and events in one place

4 - Final Solution

Time to get to work

After conducting user research and understanding our users' needs, it was time to get to work. I then began working closely with our Product Owner and Business Analyst to create a number of key modules for VizPlatform.

Document Management

There was a greater sense of familiarity when designing the Document Management module. From other popular and well-known solutions, we had a steady plan in mind to execute. After creating multiple wireframes and analyzing the options with the team, we have finally established the final designs.

Below are a few designs from the Document Management module.

Figure 1. The main documents screen where users can access all documents.

Figure 2. Upload Document modals.

Case Management

Designing Case Management for VizPlatform was also done with a sense of familiarity but with a bit of excitement as a drag-and-drop feature was in play. With two views available for users, list and board, users can choose how they would like to experience the module. All key information can be seen upfront while actions such as share, copy link, archive, and delete are available within a menu for a clean design.

For quick access to additional information, one click of the Case ID will navigate users over to the detail view. Similarly, on a single click of a submitter or assignee, relevant user information will be shown. Edit mode is also just one click away.

Below are a couple screens showcasing the two views.

Figure 2. Case Management board view and available actions.

Event Scheduling

The Event Scheduling module was an eye-opening module to design. Not that it was extremely difficult or complicated, but because of the many variations of each feature within it. Many views and edit modes were required to be completed and we found ourselves realizing something needed to be added more times than we originally planned. However, we were still able to develop a cohesive, streamlined, and scalable module that can be used by many users in many ways.

Below are a few designs from the Event Scheduling module.

Content Management

The Content Management module for VizPlatform was one that felt new. Designing something that would allow users to create almost anything they could imagine was somewhat a daunting thought but I was up to the challenge. With many configurations required, it was important to visualize every usable component and its variations clearly.

Below are a some designs highlighting the module and main components.

AI Chatbot

In the fresh and energized era of AI, it was important for us to keep up. Within VizPlatform, I have been able to lead the design for our AI chatbot, VizAssist. Customizable for each product, the chatbot can be utilized to be a user's companion day-in and day-out.

From referencing FAQs, pulling data from specific records, generating reports, and much more, it was a key feature that allowed us to stay competitive in the AI space while providing our users with a little friend. The implementation of an AI chatbot resulted in the decrease of Tier 1 support ticket volume and report generation requests.

Below is an image of the chatbot and a video of a prototype I created for a different product.
